Mother's Day Scented Accordian Fold Album

Give mom this handmade album this May and make her day extra special.  The handmade paper has been made even more unique with a chocolate scent.  What mom doesn't love a handmade gift and chocolates?

Begin by making 2 different colors of paper using one of the Papermill kits according to the instructions.  For the front and back covers of the book, I mixed a pink and purple pulp together that had been dyed using some of the Tissue Tints.   After pouring the pulp into the deckle, I added some ground cacao nibs to the mixture to give it a chocolate scent.  You can also use cocoa powder to add to it.  When ironing, place a paper towel over the sheet of paper so that the chocolate is not in direct contact with the heat.  Use a cooler setting on the iron when ironing it.  It just needs to be warm enough to lay the sheet flat.

The second sheet of paper was created by replacing 1/2 cup of the water used in the paper making instructions with a 1/2 cup of tea.  This dyed the white paper beige.  After it was added to the deckle, I also added some of the gold dust to give it some extra sparkle for mom. This sheet was cut and punched to add a border under the ribbon as decoration for the front cover.

Once the paper was dried, it was cut according to the directions that come with the Accordion Fold Book Set.  I placed the chocolate to the inside so that it was protected from melting when the book was handled.  Doing this, does not affect the wonderful smell.  The album was then assembled and decorated.

Give mom this wonderful album and chocolates at the same time for a gift that will be treasured.  Add some family photos and make it a gift of a life time for her.  Mother's Day is May 11th so be sure to get started soon and make one for every mom in your life.
