Creating Handmade Envelopes

Image
Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today to show you how to create envelopes with th e Arnold Grummer Papermaking Kit and Envelope Template . How would you use these envelopes? Using the large Pour Handmold , assemble with the Envelope Template .   Place the Pour Handmold in water.  Add torn strips of paper into a blender with 2 cups of water and blend.  Pour the slurry into the Pour Handmold and swirl the slurry in the mold.  You want to be sure the slurry covers the entire template. Remove the mold from the water, unstrap mold, remove the envelope template and place the cover screen (it looks like window screen) on top of the molded paper.  Use a sponge to remove the water from the paper. Once most of the water has been absorbed, remove the cover screen and template and place a Couch Sheet on top.  The Couch Sheet will absorb more water.  Flip the screen/paper/couch sheet sandwich over to remove additional water fr...

Quick Fall/Thanksgiving envelope by Linda Hess

With the holiday season upon us, A Thanksgiving piece called to me.  My brother is in Montana for the holidays and I want to send him a little treat.  What better way to send it than in a handmade envelope using my Arnold Grummer Papermill Pro! I pulled out the Large Envelope Template that I have been itching to try and added it to the normal paper set-up.  I mixed shredded paper with wax paper to create the pulp.  I wanted a bit of color, so I added a little bit of LuminArte' Pure Color in Key Lime. WRRRRRRRRRR...the color was gorgeous!  Honestly it took me a couple of tries to get the pulp poured properly into the template, but once I did the envelope quickly came together.  I began to press out the moisture, but left it quite damp so I could add a design to the face of it. I found a thanksgiving napkin and thought the design would work well.  Perfect size to stretch from one side to the other without noticeable lines showing.  I tor...

Old Fashion Valentines with Handmade Paper!

Image
It is getting close to Valentine's Day!  Soon you will be sending a card, gift or both to loved ones.  Make an old fashioned Valentine with your own handmade papers to make it very special. For the Valentines here I used the Arnold Grummer's Heart Template and the Envelope Template from the Cards and Tags Template Collection . I stared with scraps of colored paper, if you are like me you have tons of scraps of paper.  For this project I used papers that were solid (nothing with a white core).   Be sure to follow the directions in your kit or Basic Paper Making video ! Using the Papermill Complete Kit you can see the template for the heart card in the water ready for the pulp to be poured in.    I also cast some flowers and birds in silicone molds I have. Check out what you might have around the house that you could use to cast your paper pulp in. Use the Arnold Grummer's Strainer to drain water.  The strainer is made to sit ...

Peace Crane Card & Envelope

Image
Greetings Arnold Grummer paper making fans! Here is my latest design team project! In this project, I wanted to make handmade paper and an envelope to go with some beautiful Japanese Yuzen paper I had in my collection and decided to incorporate a folded crane in the design. If you don't have large sheets of Yuzen paper, use fancy origami paper for this project instead. The fibers in Yuzen paper will make a strong handmade sheet of paper. I added scraps of Yuzen paper paper to the pulp and I used the same paper to fold the crane and make the envelope lining. The paper was made using the two sheet and envelope deckles from the Paper Mill Pro , blue Angel Wing inclusions, Gold Dust and Silver Sprinkles which all come with the kit. I noticed that the Paper Mill Pro kit is on sale on Arnold Grummer's site. If you haven't picked one up yet, now is the time! I added some blue and green paper to make the base green color for the card and envelop...
