Making kirigami with handmade paper is easy and the results can be elegant or quirky depending on your choices. Whether you are using your handmade paper to make into kirigami or adding kirigami pieces into your handmade paper, the results are beautiful. "So what is kirigami?" you may ask. Kirigami is the combination of folding and cutting paper to make designs. Most of us have made paper snowflakes. That is a form of kirigami. First, you fold the paper and then you cut elements from the folds. Unfolding the piece reveals the pattern. Hi everyone, Sandee here with a sparkly card made with Arnold Grummer's  Metallic Dust Set . I just love the rich golden hue that shimmers and shines! And it's really easy to add inclusions like this in a sheet of handmade paper. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is here.  There is still so much to do before Christmas Day.  My last post for this year had to be fairly easy and quick. Using ordinary white copy paper and adding some  Arnold Grummer Iridescent Flakes  to the mix, I made two simple sheets of paper flecked with sparkle. Follow the basic paper making process that can be viewed at this  video link . A different style acrylic frame with a different style of die-cut snowflakes Once the paper sheets were completed I used my "go to" tools - Sizzix Big Shot and dies. The simple snowflake die-cuts were then used to add a unique embellishment to a black & white photo in an acrylic frame. Giving and receiving handmade cards is the best!  I love it when someone sends me a card they made.   I love the reaction I get from people when I tell them I made the paper! Then when I tell them most of the paper is made from paper in my shredder they are amazed!   Here are two BIRD cards, all papers used are handmade using the Arnold Grummer's Papermill Kit !  The papers used were made from scarps of leftover papers that were any color of yellow and any color of green.  These are the results I got. On some bits of   Arnold Grummer's Iridescent Flakes  and  Arnold Grummer's Gold Dust  were added. For the card base fold one sheet of hand made paper in half using the ScorPal.  When using the  Arnold Grummer's Papermill Kit  your sheets of paper will be approximately 5 1/2 by 4 1/4 inches. Then rip paper for the panel on the card. To do this lightly fold the paper where you want it to rip and dampen it lightly...

I used Arnold Grummer's Papermaking Kit  to make these papers. The base paper was tinted with tissue tints . The heart was colored with the same tissue tints with Angel Wings Botanicals  inclusions added. I transformed the heart into resin paper. Here are the instructions for making your own resin paper . I attached the resin paper heart to the lower corner of the base piece, and printed the invitation on vellum.I attached the vellum with Great Tape from USArtQuest . It's time for the kids to go back to school! One of my favorite things is vintage photos.  So when I came across two photos of my mother when she was a child I was head over heels and wanted to find the perfect way to display them.  This is what I did. I started with two picture frame kits from Arnold Grummer.  These hold 3"x5" photos. To cover the frames I used some hand made paper that I made with my medium pour mold . I made the paper using tissue paper, rosebuds , silver dust , and blue  angel wings. The photo frame kit comes in 4 easy to assemble pieces. To assemble the picture frame, first you glue the U shaped piece (this holds your photo) on to the backside of the front of your frame. Then put your frame face down on your paper.  Adhere with glue.  A glue stick works great for this. Cut around the outside and cut out the center. Then add your photo. Then using a glue stick add the back to your frame and attatch the stand to the back. ...
