Envelope Accordion Book

Image
©Anne Rita Taylor 2016 I wanted to give some suggestions to my friend who was  traveling  this summer. My envelope accordion book was fun and most appreciated ! Supplies: Arnold Grummer Paper Making Handmade paper - 2 pieces 4 x 5 inches Arnold Grummer Mini Zig Zag Books Ribbon, 18 inches  PVA or Mod Podge glue, and Scotch tape Bonefolder, scissors, ruler Magazines or calendars Begin by folding the inside of the four accordion pages in half, so now you have eight sides plus the two covers which are not folded. Making the envelopes: I used flower pictures from Martha Stewart’s Living magazine. I made my template to fit the 3 1/2 inches accordion page. Before gluing up the bottom and sides, it is 4 1/4 inches tall by 5 inches wide. After you have four envelopes, place glue on half of the front of the envelope and glue each envelope to the half accordion page. Instead of writing my own travel advice, I...

Creating a Photo Album

Image
©Anne Rita Taylor 2016 After I received the Make Your Own Book kit from Arnold Grummer I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, I loved the size, 5 1/2 by 10 inches! It had all the basic pieces, 2 cover boards, 2 pre-drilled end boards, 2 sets of hardware, instructions, but also really heavy weight paper - 35 pages pre-drilled! I could make the book with duct tape, which was OK for this book-binder, or use paper or cloth. I use a spacer bar when I use boards that need a hinge, makes gluing so much easier. Found these brass spacer bars at Home Depot near the wood aisle. I found this lovely paper at Paper Source . When I have end boards that are pre-drilled I make sure I pop in an awl so I don’t lose sight of those holes down the road. Of course I used a bone folder to smooth out the paper after gluing the boards. Pinch the ends to glue the covers over the book boards. Place the finished covers in my Arno...

Traveling Memories Mini Scrapbook

Image
Today I have a mini Traveling Memories Scrapbook to show you. Here is a photo of the supplies I used to make it...When making handmade paper, think junk mail. I used the Arnold Grummer Papermaking Kit to make my papers. I love it and love the way no two papers turn out the same.   You will need a cereal box or cardboard of some sort. I cut mine to 8" long by 3" wide. I then scored each side at the 3" mark which made a center piece of 1" for the spine. I then reinforced the spine with another piece of cardboard cut just a smidge smaller than 1" and used my Helmar Tacky Craft Glue to glue it in the center.  I then cut two more pieces 3" by 3 1/2" and glued those to each side to reinforce them. You need a strong glue to glue these in place, that is why I chose Helmars. Then tear pretty papers into strips, this is where you can use some of your gelli prints or waste paint paper and even magazines. Glue the strips onto the c...

Advice from a Cardinal

Image
Hi everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful week and hopefully got to enjoy a 3-day weekend. Don't you love just having some extra time to create something with your hands? Something you can hold and look at and say "I made that!" Well, that is how I feel about my little Paper Casted booklet, 'Advice from a Cardinal'. I had so much fun making this and it all came together rather accidentally because there are times after I make a sheet of paper  that I have a handful of pulp left over, so what do I do? I put it in a heart cookie mold and make a paper casting. I've been collecting hearts for quite awhile now. They all tend to be different thicknesses and different colors so I just picked some that were similar to make my booklet with. One way to tie them all together is to give each one the same treatment. I took some watercolor and painted the edges the same color and then came back and added glue and glitter to give them a yummy sugar coo...

Noteworthy

Hello, it is I Ann from AnnMakes and the Arnold Grummer Paper Making Design Team.  I am a lover of the handmade and all things paper.  I am also a cat lover.  Well, I have managed to make , what I think is the cutest pocket size note booklet (new word :)). By recycling some of my county's notices about Spring Street cleaning and new bylaws I made this sweet little booklet that can be easily slipped into one's pocket, one's pocket book, and even into a pocket of a Pocket Letter! ( Here is a link to what PL's are ) These are fun, fast, and free to make.  Here is how I make mine. 1. View and follow instructions on how to make handmade paper the Arnold Grummer, tried and tested way. ( Click here for link ) 2.  Gather some junk mail and make two sheets of paper. 3.  Cut one sheet in half to make the cover.  If you want to make a notebook that will fit into a pocket letter page protector you will need to make sure that your finished notebook...
