Bless Your Heart Card

Image
Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here sharing a new winged card using handmade papers. Using some premade papers, I selected 3 different colors - pink, purple, and red. The wings are so delicate and I die cut them from a purple paper. The hearts were die cut from pink paper. Using VersaFine Clair Inks and an art dauber, I added color to the images. A purple panel was also die cut and lightly inked.  It was placed atop white cardstock, then again on lavender and white panels before being added to a purple card. The pink center panel was also die cut then added to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.  The wings and heart were added on top. The phrase was stamped and die cut from red paper, then added slightly under the right wing. Thanks for stopping by.

Love

Continuing with the theme of Love this month, I made a mixed media piece and embellished it with a wonderful handmade paper heart.  After I layered the 5 x 12 inch wood panel with gesso and paints, I added stamping and a title. My plaque was then ready for my embellishment! I made paper pulp which I then squeezed through a strainer to remove most of the water. I used cookie cutters to form different shapes. Using the sponge and wood block (papermaking kit) I carefully removed as much water as possible. I put them in a 250 degree oven for 15 minutes to speed up the drying but you could also let them air dry.  I love these embellishments which can be large or small, and painted and altered to fit any canvas, scrapbook page, card, etc.  And here is the heart painted red and sprinkled with glass glitter.  I look forward to using the rest of these on other projects!! ©Michele Emerson-Roberts 2016 Mixed Media” is the “buzz” word in the art world these days. Some people think that means just throw a bunch of stuff onto a substrate and call it done! Sad to say, that is exactly what it looks like too!  You still need to follow the basic elements and principles of design. The Grummer company has always championed making handmade paper using stuff that would have ended up in the trash. They have taught millions of people to make beautiful things adhering to this philosophy. Follow along to create your own piece of art. Mine is a Mother's Day gift for my mom. With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, I am trying to come up with a little something for my husband of almost 27yrs.  After that number of years he knows what is in my heart, but I still like to show him with unique pieces.  This year I had a puffed heart came to mind...hmmm, with a note hanging from it perhaps??  Off to work I go... Materials: foil Arnold Grummer's Paper Making kit ( www.arnoldgrummer.com ) Mod Podge The Ultimate glue ( www.crafterspick.com ) ShrinkyDinks ( www.shrinkydinks.com ) chain jump rings assorted charms ( www.michaels.com/beadlanding ) To create a puffed heart I began with a sheet of foil.  Carefully crumple it between your hands to form a loose ball, then shape the ball into a heart.  A little press here, a dent there, a pinch at the bottom and your heart will take shape.  Once the form is complete, it's time to make a sheet of paper. Last month I created multiple jars of pulp ( https://polymercreations4u....
