From Fabric to Paper Cardholder For my last project for Arnold Grummer's Design Team, I will show you how I use fabric and thread scraps from textile projects and make them into handmade paper. Welcome papermakers! Summer is in full swing which means backyard picnics, pool parties and family cook outs! Why not dress up the beverages you bring to the party! I save all of the hand made paper scraps from my projects. They are perfect for smaller projects such as these tags! So grab some scraps and dies and let's get started. These summer theme dies from Taylored Expressions were just perfect for this project!  The handmade paper cut quickly and easily. I started by painting backgrounds on watercolor paper.  The sand was created using texture paste and mist.  I created a different summer theme on each tag.I added watercolors to some of the pieces and finished with a quote and twine. This is a fun project which you could even have your children help with! You could make these to celebrate any theme - a birthday, Father's Day, an anniversary or summer as I did. Summer is in full swing here! Temps have warmed up quickly and the cottage is ready to for us to host a party! We just need to make some invitations! I have a quick and fun invitation for you to try! I love to save old fliers and I knew I had the perfect color papers in my recycle basket! Using my Pour Handmold I made three sheets of paper. I tried making stripes well as just mixing the colors. I cut out a Flip Flop shape.The strap was made by punching a hole and threading the ribbon through. I printed the invite on pink vellum which I glued inside the flip flop. I decorated each with a flower and button. Now they are ready to be delivered! I think my sisters and  mom will love them!! Continuing on with the wedding planning and prep! Every wedding needs a pretty program. This is the perfect place to show off your hand made papers! This one is  made using a sheet of white paper with glitter in it. I designed the wedding program in Microsoft Publisher. I was even able to scan in the invitation and use the scroll details from that. Helpful hint - make sure that several people proof read the program before printing! The nice thing about this is you can also make the program any size you want from a single piece to a folded two pager. There are two ways these can be printed. The first is to run the paper directly through the printer. Or, the second way, is to adhere the paper to a sheet of copy paper using a strip of tape runner. Because of the deckled edge of this piece, I used the second method. Another hint - if  there are smudges of black,  these can easily be erased by using a white eraser and very gentle rubbing. How exciting! Your daughter or son has gotten engaged! Everyone is so excited but now comes the work! Planning and getting ready for a wedding can cause stress, arguments and feelings of despair! So before it gets to that point, I am here to help! There is so much that you and your family can do to personalize the reception! I am starting with the name cards of each attendee and the table number cards. You can make these quickly, easily and economically!! Start with making paper! I grabbed a handful of recycled white envelopes and threw in a dusting of glitter once the pulp was in the mold! Once my paper was dry, I printed the names. I cut a fancy shaped square using my Sixxiz Vintaj and a die.  Depending on the size you can get close to a dozen from one sheet of paper. The edges can be inked to match the bridal party colors. I used a cork as the base of the name cards. Simply cut a slit in the top and if it wants to roll, slice a little off the bottom. ...

You need a card for a birthday gift. You could run to the store and spend a lot of money for a card or YOU COULD MAKE ONE! It is so easy and Arnold Grummer's has just the thing to help you get this done quickly and easily!! There is a template for making gift cards and envelopes! You put the template between the Pour Handmold and the screen. Pour your pulp into the box just as you would to make paper. Once you have drained enough water and removed the box, gently lift the template off.  Proceed to use the sponge, blocks and couch sheets to remove the excess water. Dry using your favorite method. Now use the folding guide, make the envelope and card. You can make these to match your gift wrap, you can add flower petals, and even stamp on them! I made several so I would have extras on hand! I know many friends and family members that suffer from "sentimental card clutter", which is the art of keeping all cards ever sent to you. I view this as an art form and I can understand this mentality, but I like to re-use and recycle versus storing the cards. It's my new venture in continually trying to downsize the amount of "stuff and things" I'm willing to hold onto. This is a re-cycled birthday card that my brother sent to me. I loved the sparkly butterflies that were on the card, so I cut out the largest one to use and recycled the base of the card to make a new sheet of paper. I love how the glittered paper turned out!  I use to try and cut apart store bought cards and re-use them but I just never liked the way they looked, until now...I used the steps for making your own hand made paper that you can find HERE   to get this lovely glittery paper.
