Hi, It's Ann and today I have this gift box project that I made and will be giving some young men in my life for St.Patrick's Day.  Even though we are not of Irish descent it is just a day that we like to make an excuse to be somewhat festive!  So here is the box that I stuffed with Gold!  Ok, not real gold but even better, the edible chocolate kind, yum! To make this I simply recycled some green flyers that were in the mail with a green used envelope from Christmas.  I used the Arnold Grummer paper making kit and followed the traditional method as can be seen in this video. At the last moment of mixing the pulp I added the bling to the mix. Once the paper was dry I lay one piece over another and glued them together with a glue stick.  I then cut out the gift box using a template and cutting tool from Martha Stewart Crafts. Do you enjoy making and sending handmade greeting cards as much as I do? I never miss an occasion to create a special greeting. With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, I knew that I wanted to make paper castings using molds from Arnold Grummer's. Here are the molds that I selected and the castings that I made: Shamrock Mold Thistle Mold Lotus Mold I followed these basic instructions for making paper castings. But, I experimented a bit. I achieved the mottled green coloring in the top shamrock casting by adding a drop of food coloring to the partially strained paper pulp, and gently kneading the color through the pulp just before plopping the pulp into the mold. I also discovered that if I didn't like the coloration, I could hold the strainer containing the paper pulp under a gentle flow of tap water and the color would, for the most part, wash away!! In need of some luck?  Here's some being sent your way.  St. Patrick's Day is next month already.  Can you believe it?  This month, I am having fun creating and sharing some things in honor of the day.  This is the first thing I have to share.  I did quilling several years ago and enjoyed it, but after a while I stopped and packed everything away.  Recently, I have been seeing a lot of quilled pieces and dug out my tools.  As I was planning my projects to share with all of you, I thought it would be fun to do a quilled piece from hand made paper so decided to give it a try and now I'm hooked.  You should try it.  I know you'd love doing it, too!
