It's A Girl

Image
For those who may not have heard the news ----- I am going to be a grandmother!!!! We are just a little bit excited. My daughter is expecting her first in April and it is a girl! I wanted to share the news and knew the perfect thing to use to make a card. This B aby Feet Casting Mold  was the perfect accent. And I had Tri fold cards with a window to showcase the casting! I started with Cotton Linter Squares  and a pink sheet from the Tissue Tints Once I had my slurry, I pressed it into the mold and removed excess water. I allowed it to air dry.   To use the Tri Fold card, mount the casting in the window and secure the inside panel to finish. Now it is time to decorate the front of the card. Flowers, lace and ribbon were the perfect finishing touches!  Aren't those baby feet so cute? Did you know there are over 6 pages of casting molds in the store! I am sure there is one that will fit your needs! If you are also thinking about...

Flower Power Card and Casting with Tamiko

Image
Hi, Tamiko here.  Posting a quickie way to embellish your cards or any other paper-crafted idea with paper castings.  I found over at Arnold Grummer's site, in a book called Trash to Treasure Papermaking.   I apologize in advance if my photo is in the wrong position on the page, I am working from my cell phone and blogger app. (yikes) I can't tell you how important it is to either spray or brush some kind of release agent or oil to the molds when you first get them. It allows for a much easier/quicker way to remove casts from the molds, without breaking and/or sticking. Another thing to note when making castings and determining if they are ready to come out, when you air dry, is feeling the mold.  If the mold feels cold and even the slightest moist, it's NOT ready.  Trust ME!  ::scouts honor::  Can't tell you how many times I was in a rush to use the mold again, and it just wasn't time! They were indeed n...

Paper Casting

Image
Hello,  Ann here today from the Arnold Grummer Design Team and Annmakes .  I have been enjoying making paper castings lately with some new moulds that I received.  Paper casting can be done in several ways.  Today I am showing you some examples of using moulds and Cotton Linters. Cotton Linters are a wonderful fiber to create with as the end product results in a very white and delicate finish. However, the Cotton Linter fibres create a very strong natural bond while the fineness of the fibres takes on any details in the moulds almost perfectly.  Of course the moulds can also be used with a regular paper pulp or clay. To make the pulp all you need are a few squares of Cotton linter, some water and a blender.  Mix it all up and pour through a sieve reserving the cotton pulp and draining the excess water.  Then pressing the cotton into the mould of choice, packing it firmly, and letting it dry.  It is also possible to speed up the drying ...
