Create a Journal Using Handmade Papers

Have you made a lot of papers with your Arnold Grummer's Paper Making Mill?  Wondering what to do with some of the papers?  Do you love journal books?  Have a friend that a journal would be the perfect gift.  Here is  an easy journal to make!
 
 
Find an old book about half the size of the handmade papers (8 1/2 x 11) you will be using to fill your book.
 
 
Cut the pages out of the book and remove the back spine.


Gather handmade papers to fill the book (8 1/2 x 11),
cut them in half.
 
 
Cut them in half, to give the sheets a handmade edge use a scor-pal to score the paper. 

 
With a make  a q-tip wet the score and gently rip the paper.
 
 
Punch three holes in the  book cover, use it as a guide to punch the holes in the handmade papers!

 
All the beautiful papers look wonderful together.
 
 
To make a beautiful cover on the book.  Take a piece of handmade paper and adhere with gel medium.
 
 
Print Altered Pages Collage Sheet Eiffel Tower Over Paris on Craft Attitude printable film.

 
Cut out the large Eiffel Tower and the word Paris.
 
 
Adhere the Eiffel Tower and Paris with glue stick. Coat with a layer of IMAGINE Crafts Creative Medium Vintage, let it dry.
 
 
Attach lace/ribbon and Graphic 45 scrap OOH LA LA with Tacky Glue, then spritz with IMAGINE Crafts iRESITable Spray

 
 
Add Silk Flowers and Dew Drop centers with Tacky Glue.


Finally, add SARI Ribbons in a variety of colors to the rings.
 
I have had a great time creating with Arnold Grummer's Paper Making Mill during my six months on the Design Team... I LOVE handmade papers and plan to continue to make handmade papers, I hope you try making

Chigiri-e Japanese torn paper collage

This tutorial will show you how to create a chigiri-e inspired torn paper collage using handmade paper. Chigiri-e is a traditional Japanese craft. It is used for stationary, wall hangings, boxes and all kinds of decoration.   Handmade paper is perfect for this technique as the torn edges provide a lot of texture. How to polish paper with a stone

Do you like to read about other handmade paper artisans? Recently I read an article from the Monte Crisco Magazine on Master Papermaker Francesco Proietti and one line really caught my attention. "Finally, a rounded stone “polishes” the paper until it is flat and smooth." Now I'm all about learning things the old fashioned way albeit I might not prefer to do it all the time, I do like my modern ways too, just saying. However I enjoy a respite from the modern world every now and then and this technique just called to me to try. So I got out from my stash a sheet of one of my "perfectly imperfect" hand made papers that I created using the medium Dip Handmold .
