Welcome the Holidays

I am in sunny Florida and the weather here is chilly and so beautiful.  I just love the holidays and all the shopping and Christmas music, turkey and best of all deserts!!  Speaking of shopping the Arnold Grummer kit is a perfect Christmas gift and for my project I want to share a tag I made. I am really happy with it because you cant tell it is paper at least in my opinion.  I added a lot of coloring and stamping to the tag.


I blended my paper and added some blue and off white ink into the mixture and came up with this.  I them stamped on it and outlined a few spots of the stamped image and added a sentiment.

Chigiri-e Japanese torn paper collage

This tutorial will show you how to create a chigiri-e inspired torn paper collage using handmade paper. Chigiri-e is a traditional Japanese craft. It is used for stationary, wall hangings, boxes and all kinds of decoration.   Handmade paper is perfect for this technique as the torn edges provide a lot of texture. How to polish paper with a stone

Do you like to read about other handmade paper artisans? Recently I read an article from the Monte Crisco Magazine on Master Papermaker Francesco Proietti and one line really caught my attention. "Finally, a rounded stone “polishes” the paper until it is flat and smooth." Now I'm all about learning things the old fashioned way albeit I might not prefer to do it all the time, I do like my modern ways too, just saying. However I enjoy a respite from the modern world every now and then and this technique just called to me to try. So I got out from my stash a sheet of one of my "perfectly imperfect" hand made papers that I created using the medium Dip Handmold .
