How to use Scraps of Handmade Paper to Create Beautiful Cards

Love Soars


I love it when I can use all of my scraps of handmade paper….they are just too beautiful to toss. Here are two really quick cards that will put a smile on your loved one’s faces. Change the die cut word and they would be perfect as get well, happy birthday, hello or whatever. I liked these so much that I need to dig for some scraps in spring colors and make some happy Easter cards…..smile




Supplies:


Any of the Arnold Grummer® paper making kits and paper press
Blender, cello sponges, and soft towels
A sunny window
Scraps of colored paper (think junk mail, etc.)
Scraps of white and colored card stock to die cut
Various colors of cardstock folded to create 5 ½ “ square cards and some to layer with…
        I picked colors that go with my handmade paper “scraps”
Dies:
o Quiet Fire Designs™/Elizabeth Crafts #1165 “Love” and #1444 “Soar”
Crafters Companion Gemini™ die cutting and embossing machine
Westcott™ paper trimmer
Scor-Pal™
Beacon ZipDryTM adhesive
Stamps: bold and fine line floral designs
ColorBox® pigment inks: various light and dark colors

Instructions:


1. Follow the instructions found in any of the Arnold Grummer™ paper making kits to
        different colors of slurry and create several sheets of handmade paper.
        NOTE: I used pieces of handmade paper left form other projects.
2. Allow the paper to dry.
3. Cut some pieces to 3” squares.
4. Use the different colors of inks and the various floral stamps to create designs on the
        3” squares. Stamp lighter colors and bold designs first. Allow the ink to dry. Then stamp darkerand fine line designs on top of the bold designs.
5. When the ink is dry, cut the stamped 3” pieces on the diagonal creating triangles.
6. Fold the card stock to create % ½” cards.
7. Cut and layer some of the scrap cardstock or scraps of the handmade paper.
8. Center and adhere the layered pieces to the front of the cards.
9. Attach the stamped triangles to the layered pieces.
10. Die cut the words “Soar” and “Love” from scraps of card stock.
11. Attach the die cut words to the center of the cards.

  4. Love these, Michele! They would work with watercolor scraps as well and sparked some Ideas for me. Haven't made homemade paper in ages. Need to drag out that stuff and get busy. You are an inspiration!!!
