COURAGE

Image
At the beginning of each year, I pick a word that has special meaning to me. The word for 2019 was “Courage”. September is a month where I start to look at how that word impacted my life and the lives of those around me. It is heartwarming to list all the times where the picked word comes to mind. This saying attributed to the actor John Wayne is a fitting explanation of the word “courage”. I'm not a stamper or scrapbooker, but I've been a blender paper maker for nearly 40 years. Creating projects was challenging for me. What's easier for you? Making paper or whipping up a project? Let me know! Both projects were made using one sheet of handmade paper and the Club Scrap Falling Leaves collection. Here's what I did: Collecting I picked pretty grasses on a walk around the pond near our home. Pressing Botanicals I procrastinated and had one night to press the grasses and leaves. Luckily, this is usually enough for leaves and grasses that have already begun turning in fall. Adding Grasses to Pulp I made a base pulp from wastepaper and cream color cardstock in the CS collection , blending it till big chunks disappeared. I added one long grass leaf to pulp in the blender and used the 'pulse' button to break it down but not blend it. I did the same with a micro-pinch of brilliant  gold and copper dust . The 9-11-2001 attack on our country was devastating. The way the citizens came together was amazing! The values and hearts of the American people are huge! Bless Your Heart Card

Image
Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here sharing a new winged card using handmade papers. Using some premade papers, I selected 3 different colors - pink, purple, and red. The wings are so delicate and I die cut them from a purple paper. The hearts were die cut from pink paper. Using VersaFine Clair Inks and an art dauber, I added color to the images. A purple panel was also die cut and lightly inked.  It was placed atop white cardstock, then again on lavender and white panels before being added to a purple card. The pink center panel was also die cut then added to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.  The wings and heart were added on top. The phrase was stamped and die cut from red paper, then added slightly under the right wing. Thanks for stopping by.
