Memories of the Fallen Heroes

With Memorial Day just a little more than a week away, I have been thinking of all the brave people who are no longer with us. Our first responders and our military who put their lives on the line to keep us all safe deserve to be remembered every day, but especially on Memorial Day.

Supplies:

Any of the Arnold Grummer® paper making kits
American flag heart paper casting mold
Blender, strainer, cello sponges and soft towels
A sunny window
Scraps of white paper (think junk mail, etc.)
Scraps of white heavy weight handmade paper or card stock to die cut
Die: Quiet Fire Designs™ #1197
Crafters Companion™ die cutting and embossing machine
Beacon QuickGripTM & ZipDry™ adhesives
9 x 9” frame and white matt board
Old tattered American flag

Instructions:

1. Follow the instructions found in any of the Arnold Grummer™ paper making kits to create white
slurry and cast one or more of the American heart castings. (I always make extras anytime I am
    paper casting or making…smile)
2. Allow the casting to dry.
3. Attach the tattered flag to the white matt board with Beacon QuickGrip adhesive. You want lots
   of wrinkled textures.
4. Die cut several of the word “Memories”
5. Layer and glue together.
6. Mount the white matt board with the attached American flag into the frame.
7. Attach the American flag heart casting to the lower center of the tattered flag.
8. Attach the layered die cut word “Memories” to the top left.
8. Display on the Memorial Day holiday or better still, everyday!

  3. Love this!! The fabric flag is so vibrant and mixing the fabric and heart casting and word adds so much texture and movement to the piece.
