Altered Frame with Handmade Paper by Steph

Image
Hi everyone, Steph here with an altered frame using handmade paper. Creating your own paper is fun, but sometimes you make a mistake.  I was creating this envelope but forgot to use the mesh while removing excess water from the paper.  Unfortunately, this pulled away part of the paper I had just made!  No more envelope! I just put this paper aside to dry, then realized I could cut it apart and alter a frame. Cutting the papers to fit, I adhered them to the frame.  Once dry, I used the Proxxon PenSander to sand the edges and remove the excess paper. Using another sheet of handmade paper, I die cut flowers, flourishes and a butterfly. Then I sprayed the elements with Imagine Fireworks! Sprays. I painted the edges of the frame with terracotta paint, then stamped a grid pattern with Brilliance Coffee Ink randomly about the frame.   I then added the flourishes, flowers and butterfly to the frame. I stamped a phra...

How to make bracelets using handmade paper

Here is how I made a bracelet using handmade paper. I’ve always wanted to make paper bracelets that would last. The texture of the paper was so luscious that I knew I wanted to feature it. The color was elegant, so I decided to make a bracelet that would be able to hold it’s own at the tea table.   Supply List Handmade paper (this project used two contrasting pieces) gel medium (I used Golden   tool to apply gel medium waxed paper or craft mat scissors lace of a length to fit both sides of the bracelet sewing machine thread (in this case, white) hand sewing needle 3 freshwater pearls (or other embellishments) backing, I used some packing from some mail I received, but felt, craft foam or other stiff fabric will work velcro Step by step directions Make paper. Paper Flower Jewelry / Accessory

FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM! FOLLOW ME ON PINTEREST! Hello Paper Lovers! I played around with making paper flowers, this one is my favorite. I didn't want to use a flower die, but create them from regular shapes. These are the new sheets of paper I made this week, they came out pretty thick, more like cardstock, which I recommend for this project so the flowers will hold up when being worn.  SUPPLIES: Arnold Grummer Paper Making Kit Angel Wings Multi Color Mix   - Arnold Grummer Cotton Rag Fiber - Arnold Grummer All-Purpose Ink (yellow, brown)-Tsukineko, Inc. recycled shredded paper Paper Punches - Large oval, heart, circle Liquid Laminate - Beacon Misc: copper beading wire, 1 glass bead, paper piercing tool, deckle scissors INSTRUCTIONS: 1. "I Love You to the Moon and Back" handcast paper wall sign

Image
"I Love You to the Moon and Back" handcast paper wall sign Make your own "I love you to the MOON and back" handcast wall sign using my tutorial below! I have a "thing" for hand made signs ... especially when it comes to "vintage" or even "vintagey looking".  I love how time (or technique) ages the paint; the sun and wind and rain imparting upon them that classic weathered look.  In all honesty, it's the "textures" that draw me in like a moth to the flame, and I blame  that  on my "addiction to detail". Most of the wall pieces I create at " Talk Knotty To Me " are on wood or canvas but the sign project in this tutorial will be created from  handcast paper ! And what I do  love  about  handmade paper  is the " texture " it can magically reveal. In this tutorial, learn how to create your own "I love you to the moon and back" handcast paper wall sign that w...
