Dragonfly Duo

I really love this mold from AG and use it a lot. I was delighted to learn that the dragonfly is a symbol of peace in many cultures. The paper casting was done several weeks ago with the “Healing With ART” Veterans program. I recently taught a polymer clay class with the Veterans and wanted to play with some air dry clay that I had on hand using some of the same casting molds and/or casting stamps that we had used for the paper casting class. I think you will agree that both cards below are pretty nifty and totally different.

Supplies:

Any of the Arnold Grummer® paper making kits
Blender, strainer, cello sponges and soft towels
A sunny window
AG Dragonflie paper casting mold
Scraps of tan paper (think junk mail, etc.)
Scraps of colored handmade paper scraps or card stock to die cut
Medium lavender cardstock
Medium brown card stock
Envelopes to fit cards
Dies: Tonic Studios™ #2350e “hello” & #2351e “thanks”,  square to fit outline of paper casting
Tonic Studios™ Tangerine die cutting and embossing machine
Tonic Studios™ Tim Holtz™ paper trimmer
Scor-Pal™
Beacon ZipDryTM adhesive
Tonic Studios Nuvo Mousse Mother of Pearl, Copper, one of the purple tones.

Instructions:

Brown card/masculine:

1. Follow the instructions found in any of the Arnold Grummer™ paper making kits to create
tan slurry and cast one or more of the dragonfly castings.
2. Allow the casting to dry.
3. Lightly apply the Copper Nuvo Mousse to the dragonfly.
4. Die cut the word thanks from a scrap of tan handmade paper or scrap cardstock.
5. Cut, score and fold the brown card stock to create a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ “ card
6. Die cut the square from the front of the folded brown card
7. Attach the paper casting to the front inside of the card and the word thanks with ZipDry
        adhesive.

Lavender card/feminine:

      1.  Mix a tiny bit of pale purple Nuvo Mousse into the air dry clay
      2.  Press a generous amount of the colored air dry clay into the dragonfly mold.
      3.  Remove the clay from the mold.
      4.  Allow the clay to dry.
      5.  Lightly apply the light purple Nuvo Mousse to the dragonfly.
      6.  Cut, score and fold the medium lavender card stock to create a 4 ¼ x 5 ½” card.
      7.  Die cut the word Hello from a scrap of pale lavender handmade paper or scrap of card stock.
      8.  Attach the clay casting to the top of the card and the die cut word to the bottom of the card
           with ZipDry adhesive.

Mail the cards in padded envelopes or hand deliver with is so much more fun!
