Taking A Minute
Santa was made using the cotton linter casting squares that I placed in an old cookie mold that I had. I followed the directions on the squares and pressed them into the mold and then removed it. After that I let it dry for several days. After it was completely dry, I used some chalk pastels to add color to him and then finished some of the details using Stickles and Liquid Pearls. While Santa was drying, I used one of the paper making kits and followed the basic paper making instructions to create a sheet of paper. I had the idea of making a two toned paper which turned out to be really fun. While I had the white pieces of paper in the blender, I made some tea to create a tea dyed paper. The instructions call for 2 cups of water so I used a 1 to 1 ratio of water to tea to add to the pulp. That's the brown floor that Santa's chair is sitting on. Then, I made some green pulp and poured it into the deckle box to be the wall behind Santa. The sheet of paper was finished off according to the instructions.
I placed the sheet of paper in a frame and stamped "Merry Christmas" onto it. The "Merry Christmas" is from a line of stamps that I created and are sold at Sin City Stamps. Then, I used some 3-d adhesive to attach Santa. He will now sit on a table at our house to add to the decorations for the holidays. There is nothing more fun than having a handmade piece to enjoy during the holiday season.
