I've really enjoyed paper casting using Arnold Grummer's molds. There are basic paper casting directions on the Arnold Grummer's website. These are a few of the favorites I've been using lately.

I found the perfect frame for the maple leaf mold at one of my most-frequented thrift stores. I made several different paper castings of the maple leaf, with and without inclusions.
This is the casting that I chose for my frame.

And here it is in the frame. Wasn't I right? Isn't this the perfect frame for this maple leaf paper casting?

Chigiri-e Japanese torn paper collage

This tutorial will show you how to create a chigiri-e inspired torn paper collage using handmade paper. Chigiri-e is a traditional Japanese craft. It is used for stationary, wall hangings, boxes and all kinds of decoration.   Handmade paper is perfect for this technique as the torn edges provide a lot of texture. This is a great time to use the scraps of paper left over from other projects as well as those pieces of paper that have irregularities.   Materials: - Arnold Grummer Medium Pour Handmold Medium Couch Sheets  (You are going to need a lot of these if you want to make the variety of colors you will want for making the variety of colors of paper to choose from that I want.) -Paper for background -Various handmade papers for the design -Embossing stylus (optional) or pencil -Tracing paper (I used Dritz Disappearing Mark-B-Gone Tracing Paper. How to polish paper with a stone

Do you like to read about other handmade paper artisans? Recently I read an article from the Monte Crisco Magazine on Master Papermaker Francesco Proietti and one line really caught my attention. "Finally, a rounded stone “polishes” the paper until it is flat and smooth." Now I'm all about learning things the old fashioned way albeit I might not prefer to do it all the time, I do like my modern ways too, just saying. However I enjoy a respite from the modern world every now and then and this technique just called to me to try. So I got out from my stash a sheet of one of my "perfectly imperfect" hand made papers that I created using the medium Dip Handmold . I wanted a rough sheet of paper to see if this would actually work. I planned on doing a bit of stamping on it so I drew out a grid that I intended to polish.
