Dried Leaves and Handmade Paper Card

Image
By: Carole Lassak I love summer!! Especially the beautiful container garden that my husband grows. Gardening is his passion during these summer months, and I am fortunate to be able to harvest from his plants.  The Arnold Grummer's Garden Press is the perfect tool for preserving the gorgeous leaves and flowers from his garden for future use in my handmade papermaking projects. The garden press is easy to use—just place the harvested leaves and flower petals between the absorbent Quik-Dry blotters and tighten the easy-to-use Velcro straps on the outer covers. In about five days the botanicals will be dried and ready to incorporate in my projects. Here are the dried coleus leaves that I used for this card. I mounted the selected leaves on one side of a double-sided adhesive, then I cut the mounted leaves with Sizzix Tim Holtz Heart Wings die cutting template. With all the pieces cut, I'm ready to mount them on the card front by exposing the second side of adhesi

Happy Saturday.  I hope everyone is enjoying the day, but I want to say Happy Birthday to my sister Michelle!!  Love You.  So, I made a decorative tag for my project today using Arnold Grummers  handmade   Get Me Started Kit   for paper making. I grinded up some plain white paper in my blender and added some B otanicals and sprinkled it with S parkles (sounds like I am eating icecream huh lol) and it came out beautifully.   Then I used the Folding Heart medium template to make my hearts.  Then I inked and stamped the hearts and added some other elements to the tag.  I used a variety of colors and really love how it came out looking.   Well I hope everyone enjoyed my post for today and hey  CHECK OUT Arnold Grummer Supplies Used

Show Your Love with Handmade Paper

Sometimes it's nice to send someone you love a card just letting them know that you are thinking about them and that you love them.  Every card is special, but add a little more specialness by making your own paper.  It makes each and every one you create a one of a kind and it's fun and easy to do.  Make several in one afternoon and keep them on hand when you just want to say, "I love you" to that someone special.  One of the products that I love from Arnold Grummer's are the templates.  They come in medium and large sizes and can be used for creating the shape of your paper when using it with one of the papermaking kits or can be used alone to trace the shape onto paper that you already own.  In this picture, the template is shown being used with the Papermill Pro Envelope & Stationary kit .  The hearts on the card were also created with the large Envelope & Stationary Template Collection .  In this collection, you receive several templa

An Apple for the Teacher

It's hard to believe another school year has arrived and not only the kids, but the teachers, as well, will be headed back to the classrooms.  Every teacher enjoys having a special little something to start the year off right.  This cute little sticky notepad book is a perfect little gift to help any teacher in his or her busy day.            The first thing to create this is to choose a piece of paper that you would like for the cover.  Here I made my own paper using the Papermill Pro kit from Arnold Grummer's to create an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper.          I used the Notepad Book Starter Kit to trace the cover shape onto the paper I had created.  In this step, it is important to make sure that the traced piece is near the edge of the paper so you can also cut a 3" x 6 3/4" strip of paper from the sheet.         Place the chipboard pieces that come with the kit onto the paper after it has been cut out according to the directions o

Fly Free Tag

By: Carole Lassak I love tags. They are so versatile. Tags can be used as a greeting card or tied to a special package. I made this handmade paper tag using Arnold Grummer's Tags for Cards and Pages Template . I made the paper using these standard papermaking directions . I tinted the paper pulp with tissue tints  and added Angel Wings Multi Color Botanical Mix . The butterfly embellishment is from the PSX Garden Sticker Set. To make the butterfly three dimensional, I powdered the wing of one sticker, leaving the body of the butterfly sticky. Next, I scored a line on each side of the butterfly's body and gently folded the wings up. This sticker was positioned directly over a matching sticker. I glued skeleton leaves to the top center of the large tag, pierce holes in both the large and small tags, and set eyelets in each tag. The finishing embellishments for the large tag included the letters for the sentiment and rhinestones. For the small tag, I dipped the lower
