Birthday Card for a Young Man

Hi, it's Ann from Annmakes, and the Design Team here at the Arnold Grummer's Paper Making Blog.  I am sharing with you the card I made for my eldest's birthday which was on Saturday.    Needless to say that I am one proud mom and I love my son dearly.

I also love making things and I get great joy from making my own papers to make paper crafts like this.  I used the Arnold Grummer paper making way by blending some pulp from papers found in our recycling bin with some water and got such beautiful results.

To make this card I used two sheets of handmade paper (mine) and some handmade water color paper (purchased).  The base of the card is made by folding one sheet in half.

Another sheet of paper is used for the second layer.   I tore that second layer and inked the edges with some Distress Ink.

I stamped the image with Black ink onto the water color paper.  Once the ink was dry I used some water and H2 O water color paint to make the background.

I glued one narrow strip of ribbon over a larger ribbon, and adhered them to the centre of the second layer panel.  I then glued that second layer to the card base.  I attached the water color top over the second layer.  Note that I had cut the Water color paper with a steel die.

To add the sentiment I stamped the words on a strip of white water color paper and attached it to the top of the card by using a label holder and two small brads.

The final touch I added is a small black bow which I made with black ribbon.

Supplies:
Clear Stamp "A Real Boy" from Technique Tuesday
Ranger Archival "Jet Black" Ink
Ranger Distress Ink "Broken China"
Aleene's Tacky Glue
Red Line Tape
Scraps of trim from my stash
Label holder and brads from my stash
Handmade papers (by myself and the watercolour handmade paper was bought- no brand)
Luminarte Twinkling H2O's in    Blue "Carribean Mist"

I hope that you are inspired to make some cards for the men in your life.  Thank you for stopping by, and please visit my blog:  http://annmakes.blogspot.com.
